LION UPDATE- Mbiri males and Myambula pride

As mentioned in our last monthly highlights blog, the Mbiri males have been spending a lot of time to the south of our traversing of late, on a few occasions they have been seen with the Myambula pride, a pride that reside and hold territory to the south of our boundaries and only every now and then making incursions to the north.

The month of July yielded many great sightings yet again, we have been lucky enough to catch our first glimpse of the Zebinine pride cubs, leopards have been out and about and guests were even lucky enough to see the extremely rare Pangolin...ONE TWO OCCASIONS!!

JUNE HAS BEEN A SPECTACULAR MONTH YET AGAIN FOR GAME VIEWING WITH US HAVING SOME OF THE BEST SIGHTINGS IN A LONG TIME. FROM LIONS TO THE RETURN OF THE BUFFALO HERDS. IT IS CLEAR THAT WINTER HAS SET IN AS THE BUSH BEGINS TO DIE DOWN, GREENS FADE TO BROWNS AND WITH THAT THE SIGHTINGS TEND TO INCREASE. IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT BRAVING THE COLD WINTER CHILLS THAT COME WITH SAFARIS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Umlani Safari Highlights- February 2018

February brought many amazing sightings and it was hard to pick ones that really stood out from the others. We have had some late rains which has rejuvenated the bush before the onset of the dry season, with all the new plant growth and water the animals have been out in full force, and we have even had some fantastic sightings from the comfort of the camp, with elephants being an almost daily feature as they drink from the waterhole in front of camp and feed on the lush vegetation of the drainage line that Umlani overlooks. Out on the drives there has been plenty of lion sightings as well as general game, more elephants and then of course our leopards have also put in a few appearances as per usual.
